A question about Marco Polo airport and the water taxi area

I would like to know if we can access the water taxi area if we arrive at Marco Polo airport by bus? From what I have read it states that the water taxi's are outside the baggage claim area, I take this to mean it is not inside a secure area that is only accessible from within the airport.

Ok, now I can hear you asking why! We are traveling with another couple, they arrive via Heathrow to Marco Polo, we will fly into Milan then train it to St Lucia station. From the very first stages of planning we decided to treat ourselves to a water taxi to our apartment, but then we ended up flying Singapore and they are using Qantas. We will arrive a couple of hours before them so we thought we would soak in the view from the station with a much needed coffee then take the bus to the airport to meet them and stick to our plan of arriving in style. I know it sounds wacky but hey you only live once and some things you just have to do!
It's going to cost us 10E and a couple of hours but we will be in Venice.

Can we meet them and get to the taxi area and make a wish come true?
