A nice, quiet and affordable place to stay?

My DB and SIL, DD and me are going to Vienna for 3 nights in December. We are looking for a nice, quiet and affordable place to stay - near public transport, hopefully with an elevator. We would prefer not to share bedrooms.
I see that AirBnB is quite active in Vienna. Are there any issues regarding how legal short term rentals are in Vienna?
Can anybody recommend a suitable apartment or aparthotel?
Thanks!

This post is sinking fast. Let me ask it this way: does anybody know about any problems regarding short term rentals in Vienna?
Thanks!

i can really recommend you to visit Passiria in South Tyrol. It offers you a stunning landscape, pure nature and great hotels. Once a year I spend my holidays there at the spa Hotel http://www.stroblhof.com . It is absolutely affordable and offers you a great wellness and spa program. Greetz

Perhaps start a new thread titled AirBnB in Vienna? I don't think your title is going to draw the right people.

In Austria it is legal for a tenant to sublet to others, so long as the number of occupants does not exceed what is allowed in the renters contract.

For three nights in December, though you haven't specified the dates, I would start looking early for places in Vienna. With the month being high season for Advent and Christmas markets, followed by New Years festivities, the "best" bookings go early.

Thanks for the replies everybody.
Elberko, you are right, this was not a good title.
Fourfortravel: this is the info that I was looking for - thanks!
Sebastian: thanks for the recommendation, but this time we really want Vienna. Perhaps next time!
