A different kind of London souvenir
For those who like unusual souvenirs from their travels, here's an opportunity
The Lanesborough, a five star London hotel, is closing for refurbishment and auctioning off a good chunk of their stuff. You can view and download the catalogue here:

http://www.thelanesboroughsale.com/
By the way, I don't think the two guys drinking wine in one of the catalogue photos are included in the sale. Although you never know.

It was my understanding that they are selling many smaller items as well.
I have a few nice pieces of hotel silver and hotel barware that I bought years ago and I still like them.
Yes, I wonder about those refurbishments -- sometimes it feels like they're throwing the baby out with the bath water. Years ago, Hess's department store in Allentown, PA, decided to go modern (and then they went bankrupt). They sold off for a pittance their collection of amazing hand-cut Bohemian crystal chandeliers that were on the main floor. Whoever bought those got one of the bargains of the century.
But 5-star hotel refurbs seem to be the current trend. In Paris, the Ritz, Plaza Athenee, and Crillon are all shut for the same reason.

Weisser Tee, very interesting. I am not a collector, but can't you just imagine the buyers driving up to Hyde Park Corner, near that traffic congestion near Apsely House, in their U-Haul-Its for whatever they are called in the UK, to pick up their loot.
