I'm working on final preparations for my September trip and have a couple of driving questions I'd greatly appreciate some help with.
First, I will be driving from Venice with my first stop for the night being on Bovec. I understand the need for a vignette. As I look at the map I'm not seeing anyplace to stop to buy one once I cross the border into Slovenia. How much leeway do they give in acquiring one? In other words, how long will they give you once you've crossed the border to pick one up. Are they available for purchase at fuel stations in Italy as you near the border?
Second, I'll be bringing my Garmin GPS for which I've purchased the Europe card. I'm trying to decipher the address structure in Slovenia so I know I'm entering it correctly:
Želeška cesta 7
4260 Bled, Slovenia
I assume Želeška cesta is the name of the street, 7 is the home/building number and 4260 is a zipcode? Is this correct?
Thanks.

Depending on the road as you get to the border you will see a ex-border building. There should be a sign on it with "vignette" and an arrow. If not pull into the first inhabited building in the border complex. At most of the crossings I've done I've picked up at the fuel station.
Police, normally hang back 200m from the border but can be up to 1 km back.
Yes, your reading of the address is correct, and you will love Bled.
Thanks for the reply! I plan on crossing the border where the map below shows and getting onto highway 403 and then onto 201 into Bovec. It looks to be a fairly remote crossing and while the quality of the satellite image is poor, I can't see any buildings in the area nor fuel stations. Maybe it isn't an issue but I'm trying for as problem free of a trip as possible!

Jump, cannot see if it is a motorway, only needed for motorway or the capital's ring road

It's not motorway so no need for vignetta. You can buy it at any petrol station.
Ahhhh, that could make a difference!
I guess I didn't understand what a Motorway was. I assume then a Slovenian Motorway is similar to the USAs Interstate system? Assuming the following map is an accurate reflection of all the Motorways in Slovenia, I should be OK into Bovec and will be able to pick up a vignette at a fuel station once I'm there.

That helped a lot. One less thing to worry about! Awesome and thanks!
yes, that's motorway system in Slovenia. You must check crossing into Slovenia from Italy is also for travelers from outside Schengen zone, but i think it's no problem as you are first arriving in Italy and Italy is in Schengen zone, same as Slovenia.
Does anyone know... do they sell vignettes of less than 1 week duration? We'll only be in Slovenia for a couple of days (tho we wish it could be more).
If not, is the 1-week sticker still 15E, like the Slovenia tourism website indicates?
One week is the shortest duration and yes, they still cost €15.
Thanks, rtt.
