A Complete Photo Essay of the 12th Arrondissement

The 12th arrondissement has some tourist worthy sites but for the most part is little explored by tourists, or me for that matter. So I decided to ride my bike through just about every street in the 12th and report back to you about what I found, photos included of course. I found some interesting places and perhaps you might like to visit them on your next trip to Paris if you feel like doing something a little different. Here's the link to my report:

I just started in, but I have to remark immediately--your town has people out and about! Fearless bunch.

Michel - The Mrs. told me I need to do one for every arrondissement. Perhaps. It's a very daunting task.

Coquelicot - Those damn school kids just dashed out in front of my camera. You'll notice later in the report that true to my form I was even able to evacuate Parisian streets with my presence.

The main floor of the Musée de l'Immigration has some interesting decorations:

and the next two pictures.

The 12th arrondissement is dreadfully unsung, so I am glad that things have been set straight. I'm hoping for an FMT "Foire du Trône" report this year. I have already done one!

FMT, great photos. Maybe the proprietor of the fruit stand would be impressed if you told him how many people were looking at your photos and that perhaps a lot of them might visit his establishment and purchase some of those delectable-looking oranges --Free advertising. . . Thanks for the good work, as usual.

Wow, what a fabulous piece, thank you. You have a wonderful eye for photography and I really enjoyed your comments. If you don't love your current job, I'd sign up for one of your tours. Thanks again.

This is just SO nice, and brought back fond memories of several journeys through the 12th I've made over the years (though not at this level of detail!). Thank you!

FMT, I'm not even a quarter of the way through and am really enjoying your tour. You've done a marvellous job with the pictures and your captions are very informative.
Merci beaucoup, and well done !

Very nice. Can't say I've spent much time in the 12th. Bois de Vincennes looks like it would be nice when the weather is warmer.

Another wow! I totally loved that - thanks so much for taking the time to post your adventure and for taking us along.

We're leaving for Paris in 10 days, so I'm encouraged by those brilliant, blue skies and what looks like fairly mild temps. I am not encouraged by the latest exchange rate, however! ;-)

Wow, thanks for all the comments and compliments everyone! What a nice surprise to wake up to.

Michael - Liked your photos. Some of those will be in kerouac's next report, which is awesome.

eliza61 - Thank you.

kerouac - You are relieved of your Foire du Trône duties this year. But I'm not going on any of those thrill rides.

jobo - If he hadn't looked so angry I would have explained what I was doing. Still, he did have a nice looking store.

Suzanne2 - Saint-Mandé is a very nice place and I'm sure you will like it. Right next to the Bois de Vincennes.

BowenLinda - That's a good idea!

StCirq - You are most welcome.

Mathieu - Je vous en prie.

pdx - You should watch my video of me riding one-handed around the Arc de Triomphe.

soleilombre - Most people don't spend much time in the 12th (me included) but it has its merits.

YankGal - Blue skies are a rare species in the winter in Paris so if you get them, enjoy them. If not, just remember, you're in Paris! Daytime temps for about the next week appear to be in the low 40°F range. Yes, the exchange rate....ugh.

Great pics and info, thanks for sharing! Making a trip to Paris soon and would like to get away from the usual sites/sights, so am inspired to try the 12th. Perhaps March d'Aligre and Bercy Village...

Sidny - There are so many great areas to stay away from central Paris if you feel like finding something a little different and whichever one you choose will have its own flavor. I'm sure you won't be disappointed no matter which area you choose. Have fun on your trip!
