The 9th is home to the jewelry district (not the top class one but the real people one), the zoo-like department store area (avoid at Christmas) and the insurance district (zzzzz). It also has the lovely Place St Georges (metro of same name) and rue des Martyrs, a really nice Parisian street. Nice area.

What is the weather like in May at the Cote D'Azure? Will we be able to swim outdoors?

Wouldn't be my first choice for location. The southern part better than the rest. Gare St Lazare area too noisy, busy. Same with the financial area. For more Paris information go to www.anamericaninparis.com
