8 nights Shannon air..help w/ plans
Departing NY to Shannon (8 nights)same airport return. Not my 1st preference but I always book late..so arrival in Shannon is 7/04/05.
We are from NYC and travel alot. We are on peak season for tourists so we need to account for that.We prefer to avoid real lines and crowds (and must do's like kissing the rock).Luv biking, hiking and neat little cities, bars, off the beaten track places.
Thinking about
B@B's
1 night @ dingle
2 in Kenmare
2 in Kinsale
1 in Galway
Kilkenny maybe??
Prefer not to move every night
I need help w/ my route and B@B's /hotels peak season
We originally were flying into Dublin and out of Shannon but switched it due the $1000 fare for a better rate in and out of Shannon.
I routed that trip but the change has my mind turned upside down and I am thinking I need to book accomodations now as departure is in a month.. Help!!!

Heres a lovely B&B off the beaten path, Herons Cove in Goleen on the Mizen Peninsula. Small village on the coast, large rooms all with balconies that overlook a small harbor filled with fishing boats and underneath is a three star restraunt. Its s short drive to Mizenhead for spectacular rocky seaviews. You could hit that between Kenmare and Kinsale. The Captains house in Dingle is great but probably booked up. We are staying this year in Kinsale at the Scelig house which is up the stone stairs by the Spaniard Inn. They say the rooms overlook the harbor and I know it is a 10 minute walk to town, we shall see. Have fun

We also stayed at Sceilig House in Kinsale. It is not a bad walk to town and is very close to the Spaniard and Man Friday. Our room had a gorgeous view of the harbor. The hostess is very nice. The downside is the parking is atrocious and our room, though very private, was under the dining room. Don't plan on sleeping in at all. (We managed and then were served tea and scones on our little private patio. Like I said, a great hostess.
In Dingle, we liked Daly's and did not like Harbour View. It was okay, just not great.
In Kenmare, we loved, loved, loved the Seashore Farm Guesthouse. It costs more than a B&B but has a lovely view over the water. The Sullivans are wonderful as well.
In Dingle, blech on Cil Bhreach! Noisy with a cattle guard across the driveway, thin pillows and we just weren't impressed at all. We did enjoy the Duinin House, though. Lovely conservatory- just don't plan on walking to town. They are located on Connor Pass Rd, which is dark and has ditches on both sides.

Thank You all! I am nearing the final stages as my departure is next month. I was surprised at the availability of space in nearly every B@B I emailed. Here it is
9 days/nights
Fly into Shannon 7/4
7/4,7/5 Galway Adare House (no reponse from Petra yet)
7/6 Dingle (its a bit of a trek though)
Heatons is available(room decision open)
7/7, 7/8 Kenmare Virginia(nice in town location)
7/9. 7/10 Kinsale (maybe Chart House web has it available
7/11 last nite I am lost here. Flight is 3:30 7/12
Adare???prefer not to stay there..Any other towns enroute from Kinsale???

My husband and I stayed at the Chart House in Kinsale in April 2004. I wouldn't stay there again. The owner has signs everywhere with rules and reminders about putting the shower curtain inside the tub; not making noise after 10 pm; not spilling water on the floor of the bathroom; checking out only at these times and not at others; locking the front door; unlocking the front door, etc.... So many rules that I felt I was living back home with my parents!

For your last night consider Cashel. It's really not far from Kinsale, and within easy reach of Shannon, especially with your late departure time. The Rock really is work the trip. And personally, I'd stay 2 nights in Dingle, perhaps you should only do one day in Galway, and see the Cliffs & Burren on your way down on the second day?
