Hi! We are two adults who like easy hikes - going to Ireland the 2nd week of June (after a week in England) traveling between Dublin and Shannon for 8 days. Starting with about 2 days in Dublin.

We are about 50, like hiking, and being in small, quiet out of the way, picturesque places.

Any itenerary suggestions?

Public transport can limit accessibility to the out-of-the-way places that you are looking for.

If mem'ry serves, that southern part of ireland is the most touristed/touristy. It's such a compact country....you may find a lot more experience/scenery/solitude venturing along the west coast, say...galway..esp if 'small, quiet, out of the way places' are top o' the list.

The southern half of the country is not all a tourist trap and there is no shortage of small towns to stop off at and wander in glorious isolation.
Travelling in a southerly sweep from Dublin to Cork, starting in Glendalough, there are walks around Graiguenamanagh (along the Barrow), Inishtioge (out to Woodstock), the Nire Valley, the cliff walk in Ardmore.
It's difficult to offer precise recommendations however when the OP doesn't respond to requests for more detail of their method of travel.

Hi,

For a range of hiking possibilities, I recommend you check out THE GLEN OF AHERLOW in Tipperary. Its a good base for day trips to the ROCK OF CASHEL and other off-the-beaten track experiences. You also benefit from being just out an hour's drive from Shannon Airport.
