73rd anniversary landing Provence.
As each 15th of august the landing of US and French (1st DFL) troops is celebrated at Cavalaire.
Some vehicles are parading in the streets of Cavalaire La L'onde Saibte Maxime.
Lots of jeeps some GMC 6 wheelers one or 2 tracta Citroën one two half-tracks one dukw and maybe a Sherman or a TD. Plus some troopers.
Followed by firemen who are usually acclaimed but will get a standing ovation after the heavy fires we had this year.
Parade at 12 am and fireworks at 10 30 pm.
Fireworks are usually great last year were superb.

I just read the flyer and they are making a 'fan zone' - a closed area with 5-6 entries.
I'll be at the yacht club - advantage of spending 10 weeks a year at the same place is that you start knowing everybody after 10 years.

And while in Cavalaire -- and If you have the time -- you might also want to drive to the Rhone American Cemetery and Memorial in Draguignan where several hundred Americans who fought in Operation Dragoon in August 1944 are interred. Beautiful site. Hardly ever visited. Just north of A8.
