7 days in April/May '05...where to go?

My wife and I have been to: Italy (Amalfi, Rome, Tuscany, Florence, Venice, etc), Greece (Athens, islands), and Switzerland. We enjoy seeing new things (rural, urban, doesn't matter), good food, soaking up a different culture, and reasonable prices (no $300 hotels or $150 dinners please).

We're in our late 30's, in good health, and are 7 out of 10 on the "adventurous" scale.

Provence or Spain are at the top of the list...any other ideas? Why?

If you haven't been to London or Paris, I have to start my suggestions there! Having been to all of the places you have been and others, Paris is always my first choice. Provence or Andalucia should be lovely in April and May if you prefer something rural.

Another vote for Paris or if you have a longer time France. My daughter and I traveled France 3 weeks one May. It is still one of my favorite trips-especially being in Paris.

I think you'd get better answers if you told us why Spain, etc., ARE "on the top" of your list. For example, if you prefer quiet villages, Paris obviously isn't the place.

Now if this is simply a fishing expedition just to see how many people respond and what they say, well...that's something else again.

That time of year, and somewhat price sensitive, I would suggest Portugal. The other good choice would be Andalusia.

I would reinforce the Paris suggestion. We had a May trip a few years ago that consisted of 9 days in Paris. We felt like we could easily have filled up another 9 days. Museums, parks, restaurants, walks, markets, stores, and yes, you can do it on a budget (even with a dropping dollar).

Traveling to one place like that can be great, especially in the spring. It allows you to spend time hanging out in the park, enjoying the nice weather and feeling like one of the locals.
