6 nights in Madrid-neighborhoods/apartments
We are traveling to Madrid this summer for 6 nights. I would like to rent an apartment for our family of four (2 adults/ 2kids-7 and 9 yrs old). Any suggestions for neighborhoods that are family friendly? We don't necessarily need to be in the center of town. However, we would like something close to major lines of public transportation.

Hello. We rented an apartment summer 2012 thru vrbo. Below is a link but it may be too small for 4, tho there is a double bed and a nice sofa bed. We loved the location, took the train from/to the airport for our flights, many restaurants nearby, close to the Prado and park, actually an excellent location. I think we only used the metro one time and walked everywhere else.
Here's the link but don't let the size scare you, there are so many larger apartments at great prices. Enjoy your visit to Madrid.

We stayed here here with our 2 kids in the summer of 2012. We were comfortable and felt it was a safe area. It was a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, with a washing machine.

We walked and took taxis. It was in waking distance of the Prado, but a bit further to Plaza Mayor. We also stayed at the sister property in Barcelona, that location was fantastic!
