Too wide, Drew, too wide! How is anyone likely to know what you want to do in a whole country? Ireland has.... history, landscapes, castles, churches, prehistoric sites, horse-racing, shopping, pubs, music, etc etc.

But I would advise exploring the West coast before you head across to Dublin. Maybe a trip to the Skellig Islands?

DINGLE DINGLE DINGLE. Amazing place. We stayed in a tiny town on the way there called castlegregory. Absolutely charming. The road from Castlegregory to Dingle is the most beautiful place in the world. Doolin is another charming place where the birth of Irish music is said to have come from. We also loved Killarney. Skip the tour buses crowding the Ring of Kerry and do Dingle instead. You'll be so much better off. We also LOVED a little beach town called Tramore, south of Waterford, but not really on your way clockwise around to Dublin I dont think. Galway is also fun, but too big of a city after the quaint little towns and villages and pubs we visited.

Drew,

Six days is barely enough to give you a flavor of Ireland, but here's a few suggestions:

After landing in Shannon, head for Clare and consider staying at least two nights in the northwestern part of the county. Ballyvaughn is a lovely region, as it's located in the fascinating Burren. Enjoy coastal drives, fine dining and lodging, and a walk in the Burren. Monk's Pub is a great place to eat, as is The Lazy Lobster, in nearby Doolin.

Not far from Ballyvaughn is Corofin, an untouristy town located in East Clare. Consider staying at the most relaxing Clifden House. Corofin features many fine historical attractions, too.

On day three head south, cross the Shannon on the Tarbert ferry, and into Kerry.

Take time to spend at least one full day in Killarney National Park, visiting Muckross House and its beautiful environs. Avoid Killarney town, though, as it's hopelessly touristy. Consider staying in nearby Kenmare and have dinner at one of its fine restaurants.

Next, spend two days in Dingle. Nearby Slea Head is one of Ireland's true highlights. The Greenmount House, in Dingle, is a splendid place to stay and features award-winning breakfasts. Dingle town offers first-rate dining, and it's hard to beat the always top-notch Beginnish.

Before heading home, drive east and see the marvelous Rock of Cashel, located in Tipperary. It's one of Eire's most noteworthy ancient monastic sites. Have a gresat lunch at the nearby Cashel Hotel.

Best of luck.
