Hi everybody,
Thinking of places to visit next year's Easter (first week of April), I am deciding between Malta (I have another thread about it) and Dubrovnik (another place I've always wanted to visit). However, I have the same questions I do about Malta:
1. Are 6 full days enough to visit Dubrovnik? My main interests are strolling, eating & churches.
2. Will the first week of April too cold to spend time on the beach?
Thank you,
Orlando
6 full days in Dubrovnik the first week of April

Orlando:
I've experienced snow in early April..it gave the famed Plitvice Lakes a most beauitiful winter wonderland look. Dubrovnik is much further south and the weather was mcuh more spring-like. What is your budget for lodgings? I will be happy to recommend some places based on that.
Orlando..here are some scanned "old" Yugoslavia pics along with pics of aformentioned snow in Plitvice.

I think 6 days in Dubrovnik would be a bit much, but you could add one other destination or take many day trips. Weather could be rather chilly--def. not beach weather.
In Malta, you could see everything on all three islands in 6 days, so that has appeal. Wlldflowers might be nice, if not too early (I suspect would not be too early).
Thank you, Qwovadis... I am leaning towards Malta because of the weather. Besides, the plane ticket to Dubrovnik is very expensive compared to Malta (at least flying from South America, which is where I live).
Thank you, Tower... I love the old feeling your Yugoslavia pictures have. Perhaps, I can leave Dubrovnik for another time with more time to visit other places in Croatia.
Thank you, Yorkshire... because of logistics, I'd have 5 days in Malta instead of the 6 days I'd have in Dubrovnik. I rough itinerary I have in Malta is: Valletta on day 1, Mdina on day 2 and Victoria on day 3. I'm still doubtful about days 4 & 5: Should I visit the three cities? Marsaxlokk? The Blue Lagoon? Golden Bay?

I agree that six nights may be a bit long for Dubrovnik.
A lateral thought for you. I spent three nights in Dubrovnik, but then took the bus to Mostar for a night followed by the train to Sarajevo for two nights at the end of May. Brief, but very enjoyable and Mostar-Sarajevo is one of the better scenic rail trips of Europe.
Cheers, Alan, Australia.

Dubrovnik is well worth a visit but 6 days is too much, unless you're thinking of visiting for a beach-type holiday during the summer months (which the OP is clearly not). We stayed for 4 days last November and found we were running out of things to do after the 3rd day.
