Trip Report 6-day trip in Ireland

Jump to last reply

My husband and I are first time visitors to Ireland. I am trying to see as much as I can in those 6 days because there IS so much to see, but everyone is saying we will exhaust ourselves. First day Dublin. Second day hoped to leave ~7 a.m., drive through Limerick, see the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, stopping along way to see sights and castles, go through Galway, then through Rossaveal and Maam Cross to stay first night in Clifden. Was concerned that would be too much?? Third day go thru Murrisk to see Croagh Patrick, then on the Donegal. Fourth day visit Slieve League; another night in Donegal OR drive up to Bushmills area to stay night there. Fifth day visit Giants Causeway and area around there. Either fifth night in Bushmills or somewhere in Antrim, then 6th day see Trim Castle and Newgrange.

I'm mostly concerned about staying the first night in Clifden - too far a drive? Also I'm concerned about the drive to Donegal the next day, or should we stay somewhere in between? Not sure how much time to leave to see Slieve League as well as how much time to leave to see Giants Causeway, the rope bridge, Dunluce Castle, etc.?

We keep hearing horror stories about how stressed we will be driving, that it's not like taking a US highway. Finally, should I bother getting the UK/Ireland card for my GPS, or will we be fine without one?

Thanks!
