5 nights Tuscany in July--- where to stay and itinerary

Jump to last reply

Will be honeymooning in Italy this July. Begin in the Amalfi coast, a couple days in Rome, and then we end with 4-5 nights in Tuscany. We fly out of Pisa. We were thinking of staying in Siena and doing day trips to Florence and the countryside. I think we want a mix of slow moving, walking streets and people watching--- but also the ability to get around and hit some highlights of the region (a mix of interests, but I think more towards winetasting and photography than museums). My only previous visit was to Florence.

Does Siena sound like a good fit for us to stay?

I'm thinking we will want a car. Coming from Rome, would it be best to take the train to Florence and pick up a car there?

Any suggestions for this part of our trip?
