We will be headed to London in September. My daughters are interested in all things Henry VIII and Harry Potter. Other historical spots, the theater and shopping (Harrods & Burberry) are priorities. We have been told the musical Let It Be would be a good choice. Any recommendations for our itinerary would be much appreciated! (our daughters are young adults)

for Henry VIII, the obvious destination is Hampton Court. you can get there and back by train out of Waterloo, or get a boat along the Thames [it takes quite a long time so it would be better to do this in one direction and the train back].
other places to consider would be the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the V&A museum, and that's just for starters.
hope you have a wonderful trip!
Well Hampton court springs to mind for Henry VIII: http://www.hrp.org.uk/HamptonCourtPalace/
And the Tower of London is a must! http://www.hrp.org.uk/TowerOfLondon/
For Harry Potter check out http://www.walks.com/London_Walks_Home/Harry_Potter/default.aspx
Go here: www.londontown.com. Wander around the site and you'll have an itinerary in no time . . .
Any opinions on the Warner Brothers studio tour and whether it's best to do a Harry Potter walking tout, bus or auto tour?
For more Henry VIII, visit the REAL LIFE (not Warner Bros) family home of Anne Boleyn, Hever Castle outside London in Kent. Train then 3 miles by taxi (directions on website):

Thank you for your suggestions! I'll look into the boat ride to Hampton Court, sounds great. The websites you suggested have helped immensely. I'm getting a handle on how much we can do in five days. Not so overwhelming now.
The Warner brothers tour was for the making of the movie, Harry Potter, not anything to do with Henry VIII. Sorry if I was unclear about that. Will check out Anne Boleyn's family home. Great suggestion.
Leadenhall Market is not too far from the Tower, just up from the Monument. http://www.leadenhallmarket.co.uk/location.php
Might be a picturesque place to stop for refreshments. One of the shops in Bull's Head Passage was used in Philosopher's Stone film. There are websites about film locations, of course, such as:
http://www.movie-locations.com/movies/h/harry_potter1.html
Some of these might be fun to peer into if in the neighborhood.
if you fancied a day out in Kent, I'd suggest going to Chartwelll as well - get a train to Sevenoaks and rent a car for the day.
"Thank you for your suggestions! I'll look into the boat ride to Hampton Court, sounds great.
The boat ride is great . . . but don't take it TO the Palace. If the weather is decent, then take it FROM the palace into central London. It is a very long boat ride and if you take it to HCP, you won't arrive til after lunch time. So goto the palace by train, and then hop on the boat afterwards
