5 Days around Milano,Italy
Hi Fodors friends,
We have 4 nights/5 days in/around Milano and was wondering what is best to do around that area? The lake Como/Garda areas seem nice. Any other ideas where we could spend a couple of nights.
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teens......
Thanks....

It would help to know what you like to or want to do in those 5 days. Relax and enjoy the scenery? Explore interesting towns, go to museums, seek out great food?
It would also help to know how you'll be traveling. Will you have a car or will you rely on public transportation?

We will have done the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany for 4 days each...and Venice for a night....do u recommend taking a train from Milan to Nice(as we do France next) or just drive to San Remo and then do the train....

Well, first, I would add more time to Venice. I don't know where it falls in your itinerary (or whether you've been there before), but Venice is a half day's drive (or more) from the other places on your itinerary. One night there will allow for only a few hours of sightseeing.
Although I'm not the biggest fan of Venice, I wonder why you've allowed for much more time in the Milan area and almost nothing to Venice. But this is your trip....
You still haven't said what the family members' interests are, so it's hard to make suggestions beyond that. And I guess you're not going to Rome at all....?
FYI, most of us here consider 4 nights in a place to be only 3 (full) days, especially if there are hours of driving between points.
