My 40th birthday is on August 1st and I would like to spend 10 days traveling around Tuscany. I know that August is not a great time but that my husband would really like to take me somewhere I've always wanted to go for my 40th. Any advice or suggestions?

Hi Nancy,
I have said this many times, but my advice is take a villa somewhere between Siena and Florence. You can visit Florence in a short time, down to Siena, just about anywhere in a day. We had a wonderful week driving around Tuscany up past Lucca and down to Siena. Email me if you wish. If you decide to stay put for a day's break, a villa and its grounds allows you to do this, relax and soak up the views , having a lovely lunch with wine, pretending you live there. Great fun. Denise
