4 days itinerary for France

Folks, need suggestions to plan the Paris itinerary

I am visiting Paris this May with my family along with 4 yr kid for 4-5 days and need suggestions on the places to visit.
I will be reaching Paris on 13th night by 9:30 PM and stay for 4 N before heading to Murren, Switzerland. So need suggestions on the places that i should cover during my visit.
I tried to find some places but my search is not leading me to anywhere.

One more help in regard of staying in Paris, i would prefer to stay in Apartment near gare du nord paris, so any suggestions on good apartments will be of great help.

Any other advice on where should i make my base for this 4-5 day visit.

Keep in mind, you have 3 days with 4 nights, not 4 days or 5. One cannot be traveling and also enjoying the city, though I wish we could.

Don't stay near the Gare du Nord and don't stay in an apt. There are better neighborhoods than those around the Gare du Nord. There is more "overhead" with an apt than a hotel - especially with checking in at at 10:30 at night.

Can't advise about what to do - without knowing your specific interests. There are countless things to do in Paris - and you have only 3 days to do them. I probably would just wander along the Seine, Ile St Louis, Notre Dame, etc.

Hi, vbansal.

There are tens of thousands of websites devoted to what to see and do in Paris, not to mention hundreds and hundreds of guidebooks. So it's very, very hard to believe that your searches haven't led you anywhere. And we know nothing about your interests, why you chose to visit Paris, what your budget is, what you hope to get out of this trip, etc. - so your question is impossible to answer.

It will be hard to find an apartment anywhere in Paris for just 4 nights, not to mention that the vast majority of apartments are illegal and the city is cracking down on them, so you could find yourself with no place to sleep at the last minute - not fun with a 4-year-old.

Give us a nightly budget and people here will be happy to recommend hotels.

"Don't stay near the Gare du Nord..." Stu Dudley

There are some perfectly nice neighborhoods near the Gare du Nord/Gare l'Est. Last visit I stayed between Gare l'Est & Canal St. Martin for a night before leaving by train and would again. A couple of blocks makes all the difference. Several blocks to the west in the 9th can be good too. Get more than one opinion before taking any advice on a forum.

So i will be reaching there 13th late evening and will move to Switzerland on 18th afternoon or if required may be 19th morning. So i will be having 4N/5N.
As i am traveling with Kid, so i am planning a day trip to Disneyland or stay for 2 N there only if budget allows the same .. Disneyland is too costly to stay i would say.

I also heard that apartments are not legal so probably would like to skip it and choose hotel only for now.

My hotel budget would be ~70-80 euro for per night.
As i will be coming from Amsterdam so i have already been visited many museums but still if there is any difference then definitely would like to give it a shot.

Don't do Disneyland. Your child will not remember anything

Your hotel budget is way low.....

Look at my tips for Amsterdam to find out why you doesn't have to visit museums there, but can hang out with your kid. Much more relaxed.

And Paris can be the same.

Hello

My opinion (disclaimer etc) :

1 - gare du nord (GDN) is perfectly safe and except some (small) parts is nice enough - with some parts of 10th very nice.

rec : 2 stars hotel 'District Republique' rue Sampaix, close to metro Bonsergent is perfect for you. Close to GDN, close to Canal Saint-Martin, tarriff at 100 € something. I paid 60 € last week. Recently renovated.

2 - DLP (Disney) : your child has the perfect age to go. He will see the magic and you'll love it because he loves it.

Rec : take RER A to the park.

3 - your budget is low

Tips : drink tapwater (free in restaurant - carafe in french) find some indian restaurant (full of them in 10th close to GDN) : good food, nice people low price.

4 - what to see : buy a paper guide or browse Internet. Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world, you have zero difficulty finding what YOU want to see with a tiny bit of research.

5 - Switzerland is the most expensive country of Europe. If your budget is very low, cut some days there.

Well it looks clean in the pictures, but it is certainly not near Gare du Nord, and it is over your stated budget as I see the rate of €110 in May. Also, I would check to see if you can find any reviews of the apartment online, as I do not see any on the rental site.

I would also check to see if the proprietor is willing to "welcome you", give you the keys, and show you around at 11PM at night.

Regarding the apartment, I've been staying for a very long time in the vicinity of rue Lepic because I love the neighborhood. An adult can walk to Gare du Nord from there, otherwise, there's a bus, #30, that will get you there from either Blanche or Pigalle, depending on which stop is closer, could be either, but close either way.

It doesn't mention an elevator, so the 2nd floor will mean 2 flights of stairs. Just something to keep in mind. They usually use a wide angle lens, so though it says "spacious", it's most likely tiny by most standards so if you like it and book it, be ready for possibly tight quarters. Just another thing to keep in mind to avoid disappointment.

It may be listed on other rental sites so do look for reviews.

>> I tried to find some places but my search is not leading me to anywhere

Yeah, sadly there are not many places to visit in Paris. See Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, a boulangerie and a cafe, then you can call it quit.

Other than: the museums' names in Paris are different, the oeuvres are different, the styles are different; everything else is the same. Skip them if you must.

Why Gare du Nord -because you are taking train there from CDG Airport? Gare de Lyon makes more sense since your train to Switzerland will leave from there -oh maybe you are flying CDG to Zurich?

But if taking train and I would-scenic routing and kids that age love trains - www.voyages-sncf.com for fares and self-booking. For lots on trains check www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

kids that age can't ride most of the famous Disney rides but yes at that age it would be pure fun - something for the kid and kid in you too.

Consider a day trip by metro/RER out to Versailles - in Paris for kids a treat in Luxembourg Gardens or Tuileries Gardens to at the large basins rent a small remote controlled boat kid and you can make move around the water.

Guignol shows in Luxembourg Gardens are fun for kids even if they don't speak French.

Thanks, i have sent a mail to them regarding the same. Though i would like to know about the legality of this apartment.

Thanks PalenQ for your feedback, it is always helpful.

As i will be traveling from Paris to Interlaken(most probably) and then stay 3N in the vicinity before moving to Zurich for my return flight. So should i consider buying a swiss-pass or point-to-point tickets for my swiss visit?

I have to take a TGV from Paris to Besel before changing at Besel for 'Interlaken', right ?

YOu can buy Disneyland passes on the Disneyland website.

https://www.booktickets.disneylandpa...d=32454335543R

I don't think anyone can tell you for sure about the legality of that apt, it depends how often the owner is renting it out. I think it is only 100 euro during your dates, but of course, you can tell it is minuscule and only a studio, but I guess you can't expect a lot for that price and figure it's as good or better than a hotel. Except for possible issues like security deposits, etc.

I think that place is a little overpriced myself.

It's on other websites like Wimdu and is only 93 euro on there
http://www.wimdu.fr/offers/4C3LDAP6?...type=by_bounds

That woman has several apts for rent on wimdu so I suspect it is illegal. Personally, I wouldn't rent an apt in your case, you can get a cheap hotel in that area.

So - you will be in Paris for 4 nights & 3 days, and 2 of those days will be at Disneyland. Why are you even asking about the things to see & do in Paris - you'll only be there for 1 day? Just wander around.

If most of your time will be spent at Disneyland, why are you staying close to the Gare du Nord and not along the RER line A to make it easier to get to Disneyland?

I believe that the trains for Interlaken/Murren leave from the Gare de Lyon. Why do you want to stay near the Gare du Nord? Stay near the Gare de Lyon which is also a stop for the RER A to Disneyland. If you arrive at the Gare du Nord, immediately take the RER D to the Gare de Lyon. Trains leave every 10-15 mins for the 30 min trip to the Gare de Lyon after 9:30 PM.

If you are arriving at 9:30 on the 13th for 4 nights - and then leaving for Murren on the 17th - how does Disneyland for the 17th & 18th fit in??? Have you changed your itinerary??

We've stayed at the Hotel Terminus 4-5 times. It's across the street from the Gare de Lyon. Cheapest double room for 4 nights starting May 13 is 665E (only 2 more rooms available at that price).
