4 days in Krakow - Too much/too little time?

We're planning on going to Krakow (from Vienna) and are thinking of spending 4 days there. Would that be too much or too little time? Besides spending time in the city center, is there anything else to see - perhaps day trips away from the city?

Four days or four months, Krakow and its environs are like London. You can never learn/see them all.. Read Schindler's Ark and then seek out the sites. Visit the ghetto location. Try to tour the Jagiellonia University. Bored, do a day trip to Zakopane or Czestochowa. Use the busses. Visit the book store and scan Poland, Krakow. Do a search...Krakow!

I was in Krakow for six nights in April. Three of my days were largely taken up with a conference leaving me with two full days and fragments of other days free. I was not at the point of boredom when I left. Auschwitz deserves a visit that will use up most of a day. Four days sounds good to me.

We spent spent 7 days in Krakow - was not bored with the duration and in fact would like to go back! We spent another 2 days in Zakopane (in the Tatras via the bus).

We did one day sidetrips to the Black Madonna in Czechtochowa (sp),Auschwitz via a bus and Kalweria Debshadova (spelled phonetically) where they have a Passion Play every Good Friday.

Hi - the nearby salt mines is well worth a visit - you catch a bus near the station. Easy.

4 days is not too much, that's about what we had, 1 day to see the salt mines, 1 day to visit Auschwitz/Birkenau and 2 days to see the city of Krakow. With the other ideas out here looks like you could easily spend a week or more.
