3 weeks starting in Prauge
We are in the very initial planning stage of a 3-4 week trip starting in Prauge to visit relatives. My husband has never been to Europe (other than being born in Brno, left as young child)and I have only visited Western Europe. Any suggestions of "really should sees" - we are open to less than traditional tourist sites as well. We will also have our son with us age 3 - just to keep in mind. Appreciate any input.

I can only suggest you don't miss Vienna -- a truly lovely city where much of the history of eastern and western Europe meet. Many interesting day trips too.
I travelled with a three-year-old and jet lag was quite an adventure -- expect to stay awake with him the first night or two...Have a wonderful time.

My husband and I were in Prague in June, rented a car and drove down through Southern Bohemia. We stayed in a small town, Hluboka nad Vlatvou at the Hotel Stekl, which formerly was the servants quarters for Hluboka Castle. The castle was wonderful and the accomodations were superior. We visited Ceske Budejovice, Cesky Krumlov and Telc. All are worth the visit. I don't think there is much that can be said to the detriment of the Czech Republic, or it's people. We have been to Europe many times and although we find most Europeans friendly (we're from the N.Y. area) the people of the Czech Republic were incredible. Have a wonderful time.

Hi We went to the Czech Rep. two yrs ago. Had a wonderful time. Liz in a previous posting had some excellent suggestions. I would just like to add Kutna Hora, it was a royal city in Medieval times and has a great silver mine that offers a tour. It was the Royal Mint at one time, my only hesitancy is visiting the mine with a 3 yr old child, it gets low, narrow and at one point very dark. The city itself is worth a visit. I was also surprised that someone else visited Telc. A magnificent town square. Enjoy your visit.
alan
