Not to be rude - but my advice is to read a guidebook or two and come back w/ questions we can answer . . .

Priti--what do you like to do? What do you want to see? If you don't know, get a good guidebook, read about what there is to see and where it is, then come back, put your itinerary on line and we can give you advice. Otherwise, we'd just be guessing as to what you want to know?

You could also start by reading the existing Q/A's in the UK forum. There is a large amount of good travel advice here - enough to get you started planning your trip. I've previously planned trips just by reading what's already in the forums. Start reading what's here and you should quickly be able to start making decisions about what you want to do and how to do it. good luck...

Well for a mode of travel consider trains and buses or both - and for someone your age there is a bargain Youthpass for BritRail Passes and you can hop on any train anytime - fully flexible 2nd class travel and National Express buses also have some kind of pass. Buses may take longer and IME are not as comfy but can be cheaper than trains.

For lots of great British train info check out www.nationalrail.co.uk - fares and schedules for all trains and these info-laden sites - www.seat61.com; http://www.budgeteuropetravel.com/id11.html and www.ricksteves.com. For buses Google National Express U.K.

Check out the National Express Brit Explorer Pass for perhaps the cheapest way to go around the UK - a suggested trip by train or bus:

London
York
Edinburgh
The Lake District
Bath
Stonehenge & Salisbury
London
Day trip to Cambridge, Windsor and or Cambridge

And don't be scared away by the rudeness of some Fodorgarchs - ask questions - many here will readily be helpful without attitude!

Get a copy of Let's Go Great Britain - the bible as they say for young backpackers on a shoestring budget and who stay in youth hostels, youth hotels, university dcrms, etc - a wealth of info for you.

Also check out Britain's many HI hostels - some are really nice and you meet a lot of nice Brits and foreigners traveling around. (Hostelling International hostels)
