3 Week Trip Family of 5 Driving vs Trains Paris London Brussels Italy

Ok, new member, so be gentle...

Beginning to plan 3 week trip in June with family of 5 before oldest goes off to college.
Kids are 18 yrs, 16 yrs and 15 yrs.
Flight in and out of Paris (from Miami)
General plan:
Paris - London - Brussels (wife lived there when she was in middle school)
Then 1 day ski at Zermatt
Venice - Rome - Florence
Back to Paris

Looking like a car for 3 weeks would be far less expensive than 5 rail passes for all these areas - but may consider flying between Italy and London/Brussels area. We do long drives though US (24 hours straight sometimes) so driving doesn't bother us - manual trans is no problem either. Not sure if parking and then transportation within the cities makes the car savings minor or not. Planning to stay in apartments where possible. We may be a little ambitious but the start and end dates are firm - just need to fill in the details - would love any thoughts or suggestions.
