3 Questions about the Roma Pass

I understand that this pass is not available at all the places listed or as easy to get as the website says. Has anyone gotten it at the Fiumicino Airport?

It can be used at the Borghese Gallery but I am not sure how to reserve my appointment in advance & then use my card for the free entry. Can anyone help on that?

It mentions discounts on other museums & sites (after your 2 free sites). Does anyone know the aproximate discount on these other sites?

Thank you.

1. I never bought it at FCO, so I have no idea.

2. Go to http://www.ticketeria.it/. You can choose "Prenota" or "Acquista"; choose "Prenota" and you only pay the booking fee when you pick up the ticket at the ticket office one half-hour before your time slot.

3. The discount is usually 50%.

We bought the Roma Pass at Villa Borghese, used it at the Colliseum, and at the Pallatine Hill (same day as Colliseum). We also used it on the bus system one day.

I must say, the most important aspect was skipping the line at the Colliseum. It was terribly long, but with our pass, we went RIGHT to the front- without waiting a minute- honestly. It was amazing!! We kept remarking how glad we were that we got it, simply because of that!

Oh, and also, all these annoying "guides" for the Colliseum kept coming up and offering us the opportunity to skip the line for about another $30 per person- guided tours, etc. We mentioned we had the Roma Pass and they were like, oh, then you don't have to pay the admission, but they totally omitted the fact that we'd get to skip the long line that way, too. SO glad we ignored them and asked. We got to the head of the line without having to pay extra by taking their tour.

We were just in Rome late January. The Roma Pass is available all over the place. We bought ours just outside the Termini Train station at one of the kiosks. Before you go make your reservation at the Borghese website, don't buy tickets. When you get there, show your pass and your in free. They did not charge me the 2 euro reservation fee. After your first 2 free, the sites are mostly discounted 50%. Works like a charm, most sites had a special line for passholders.

Places to buy the Roma Pass:
http://www.pierreci.it/do/show/page/00115

I've seen the discounts listed anywhere from 20%-50%. The first two times you use it will take the free entrance so be sure the Borghese is one of your first two. The Colosseum (9E if you include Palantino) and Borghese (8.50+2E reservation fee) are the highest priced of all the museums. Most of the others are priced around 6-6.5E and then you would get the % discount.
