3 Nights in Berner Oberland over Christmas

3 nights in B.O. (with wife and teen kids) arriving by train from Paris and then continuing on to Venice. I have digested much information online, but would appreciate input on the following:

1. Best train route from Paris to Grindelwald/Lauterbrunnen area?

2. Which town do you recommend we use as our base if our focus will be Grindelwald/Lauterbrunnen/Jungfrau sites? We'll look forward to a good meal in the evening and fun atmosphere.

3. Any recommended (efficient) strategy to see the highlights of these towns/peaks in 2 1/2 days once there (including must do rail lines)?

4. I presume there is not a single train pass that lets me bundle the Paris to B.O., B.O sites, B.O. to Venice, and then Venice to Rome, but I will check with BETS. Am I likely looking at point to point tickets throughout?

Thanks!
