3 days in Switzerland

So I have three days in Switzerland. I fly in to Zurich from a long few weeks of work and I have three days to do whatever I want. The first thing I notice is the cost of staying in Zurich. Is it worth paying those prices?

When I was 7 or 8 I went to Wengen for two weeks and it was one of the highlights of my life. I am thinking about going back. I would arrive on October 4th and stay a few days. I hear this is the very end of the season and many shops may or may not be open? I understand this is the end of the season.

Is there somewhere in this region I should go instead of Wengen?

How long would it take to get from the airport to Wengen? I hear several trains and around 4 hours. Does that sound right?

Any other places you would visit with 3 days or is it worth it to stay in Zurich for all three days?
