3-days Athens Itinerary, thoughts? Starting this Wednesday!
We revised our plan and decided to only do 3 full days in Athens. We'll arrive on Wednesday and my wife is just at 6 months pregnant.
I saw this website and I was wondering what you all thought?

Granted, this is for 4-days, are there things we must see and revisions?
We really want to see all the ancient sites and check out the National Archaelogical Museum but we're not huge history buffs, just like to see "must see" things and explore around.

Also, I heard Delphi is pretty awesome too, so not sure if it's feasible to do Athens in 2-days and then Delphi on another day.
We have a full morning on a "4th" day, where we then head to the airport at noon.

I did not read your itinerary. Just be aware that some of the archeological sites have lots of steps and rocks and can be very tiring. Also, be sure to take plenty of water for your wife. Want to be sure she does not become dehydrated.

Be careful, it might be a lot of walking for your wife, just take care of her. Keep in mind that Thursday 23, Feb, the subway is on strike and you can only use buses. If you have trouble, you can always ask a Butlair for help.

I'm going to suggest something a little different from the usual "crumbles" and archeology museums. There is a lovely museum "Athens Byzantine and Christian Museum" located in a gorgeous old mansion near the center of the tourist area. It has room after room of the most amazing icons, some sacramental paraphernalia, tapestries, manuscripts and more. But the icons will blow you away - not what you may usually think of, one or two figures of a saint painted on a board, but large boards with very intricate depictions of various Bible scenes. Think of the entire book of revelation painted in small vignettes on a 3 X 5 board. Great way to spend a few hours out of the heat and the crowds!

Most of what people go to Athens for is in a relatively small area making it very easy to do a do-it-yourself tour at no cost.
There are numerous guide books and websites available to make seeing Athens very easy and at your own pace.
Most of Athens is relatively flat except around the Acropolis and parts of the Plaka Area.
It may be a little difficult for your wife to climb steep steps in her condition.
With 3 full days you should be able to see most of what people go to Athens for. If you have time you can visit the Central Markets on Athinas St., Anafiotika on the north side of the Acropolis and many of the side streets throughout Athens and lots more.

http://www.thisisathens.org/ is the official Athens portal with many ideas for visitors . You may want to have a look.
If you are up for it, there is an Athens greeting programme where a volunteer can show you around for a few hours.

Enjoy and let us know how it does : )
