3-4 Day Danube River Cruise

We have traveled quite a bit in Europe and are down to our bucket list of a 3-4 day Danube River Cruise and visiting Budapest. I have found Vienna to Budapest and vice versa. Is that the best, most scenic stretch for our brief cruise? If not, what is the best stretch? We want the most scenic so may drive it instead.

Putting it here as it is more Europe scenery than a cruise question.Thanks.

We have just completed a river cruise this June going from Budapest to Bucharest for 11 days. I doubt there are shorter cruise programs. I remember seeing a 7/8 day cruise going from Budapest to Germany via Vienna. The Eastern Europe cruise was mind opening although quite different from what you get to see in the Western part. We ended up in Romania then took a private Jewish Heritage Tour.

Vienna to Budapest (or vice versa) would be a day trip by boat... I doubt you can book solely this as a cruise - but you could visit each city and do the trip by boat. (and the drive between these 2 cities is completely not scenic - though you can stop in a few nice places).

In 4 days, you would barely touch the surface of either of these cities - much less both. Can you squeeze out more time?... Or perhaps just visit one city and take a small boat ride?

Budapest is (in my opinion) one of the loveliest cities in Europe from the water at night.

I do have a 4 night cruise from Vienna to Melk, Bratislava and then Budapest. Is this a nice stretch? There are trips Nuremburg to Vienna and then onward. Is Nuremburg to Vienna a more scenic trip> Thanks.
