2014 Ferry Boat Schedules Salerno/Amalfi/Positano Just Released

The ferry boat service between Salerno (Concordia Dock), Amalfi and Positano will start up once again on April 2, 2014:

http://www.travelmar.it/downloads/orari_Aprile2014.pdf

(This is the same service as the Cooperativa Sant'Andrea)

The Concordia Dock is located 800 meters from the Salerno train station, reachable on foot in 10 minutes.

Make sure that your train from Rome or further north arrives in Salerno in time to safely connect to this ferry boat to Amalfi or Positano!

When the ferries don't run because of bad weather, you can reach Amalfi and Positano by hourly SITA bus from the Salerno train station.

GAC, it looks like there is one last boat from Salerno to Positano (3:30) that is listed on the website you posted, but not on the Coop Sant Andrea website. Do you think it is that a different company is running the last ferry, or that CSA hasn't updated its website yet?

Any idea how far is the train station in Salerno from the ferry terminal? Out train arrives in Salerno at noon, so the next ferry to Positano seems to be at 14:40. Any lunch place recommendation in between the two? Thanks

I suspect that Cooperativa Sant'Andrea is not as punctual in updating their website.

The Concordia Dock is located 800 meters from the Salerno train station, reachable on foot in 10 minutes.

Does anybody know if we should pre-book Travel Mar tickets for July or can we just book on the day of? Do the prices go up if you buy at the dock? Also, if I pre-book, can I go early and board another ferry with the same ticket?

No need to pre-book, just purchase your tickets the day of. The tickets are destination-specific, so if you go from Positano to Amalfi, and then you want to go to, say, Salerno, you have to buy a separate ticket for the Amalfi to Salerno portion of your journey.

Can anyone please tell me the timetables for May 2015 for Salerno to Positano ? Also we will be arriving in Salerno on the overnight ferry from Messina Carontetourist ferry does that dock at Concordia dock and would it be easy to get off the overnight ferry and hop on a Salerno Positano Ferry ?

Any help would be great

If you look at this map, your ship will put in at Molo Ponente (purple dot - white part of map is the water). Concordia is not even on this map (it would be off to the lower right out off the map).

You will need to walk approximately 1 miles between the port where the overnight ferry arrives and the dock where the ferry to Positano departs.

The schedules for May 2015 are not yet posted. Since this thread originally announced that the schedules for 2014 were posted in March 2014, you can expect the same next year. But the schedules do not vary much from year to year - at least for the last 3 years.

ekc or others - these are not year-round ferries right - if so what is the usual end date? Curious and they always commence about April 1st - no service in winter?

thanks in advance.

Do any of you know if the Sorrento to Naples ferry runs year round? I was under the impression that some locals used it to commute but I'm not sure about that. I'm going to Procida in late March. Obviously boats runs between Naples and Procida year round but I'll be in Sorrento first and wondered if I'll have to do the train to Naples.

You should be able to take the Alilauro from Sorrento to Naples Beverello (8:10,10,12,14 and 16:25). Their online booking isn't working correctly for me and they only have a schedule listed to Jan 1,2015 so it might change a bit then, but probably not much. Perhaps you will have better luck. Where does your Procida ferry depart from?

>>> I guess we could get a cab from one place to the other ? Any ideas how much that would be ?<<<<

Some of the area along the coast has set fees (you must request it and get a receipt before starting out, otherwise you are charged by the meter), but not sure that includes Salerno. If it's a meter charge, it will likely start at a couple of euro. There can be extra charge for Sunday/holidays/nights and a bag charge (usually under 1€ per bag). You can see Naples taxi rates on this link (click on ordinary urban tariff to load the pdf). Rates for Salerno will be similar.

If your destination is Praiano, I would probably take a taxi to the train station and catch a Sita bus unless there is a ferry at a convenient time. Ferries don't run often and the buses are more frequent.

Remember that Salerno to Praiano (or Positano) by bus requires a connection in Amalfi, where the two buses usually park within feet of each other. In Salerno, the SITA bus going to Amalfi stops closer to the cruise ship port (it makes a couple of short stops in central Salerno to pick up passengers before picking up the road to Amalfi), but you are better off taking a taxi to the train station to board the bus, because you're more likely to find seats there.
