2 Weeks in Spain in February
I am traveling with a friend to Spain for two weeks at the end of February. Because of the temperatures, I was thinking southern Spain may be more enjoyable. We will be flying in/out of Madrid and we are open to trains or car rentals to get around. I would really like to see Sevilla, Ronda. Malaga and if there is time; Gibraltar or maybe a day trip to Morrocco. My friend wants to spend time in Madrid and Barcelona. Is it possible to do all of this in two weeks, or am I setting my sights too high? Please help?!?

Have you used a weather website to check what the temperatures will actually likely be in Andalucia at this time? Wunderground.com is good for that.
Please search the archives to read about Gibraltar and Morocco day trips, as there is definite consensus that neither is really worthwhile. Certainly not if you have limited time, despite any differing opinions.
It is possible to visit Andalucia, Madrid, and Barcelona within 2 weeks, but something will probably get short shrift. It sounds like you and your friend need to work out your priorities, good luck!

I have checked the weather/temps, this is why I prefer the south, and the lack of rain this time of year. I have been to Barcelona, and don't really need to go back, he has not. We are definitely fyling into/out of Madrid because or cost and schedule. Do you prefer car over train, and if we are just doing the south, what are your favorites?

I think it would be very difficult to fit all these locations into a single trip of 2 weeks. Andalusia, certainly. Andalusia and Madrid, maybe, although you would need to be selective. Trying to add Barcelona probably doesn't make much sense if you are flying into/out of Madrid. What you can do really depends on your interests. For example, if you really enjoy art, you'll want much longer in Madrid than if that isn't your thing. A good guide book should help you and your friend decide.

We always prefer a car. It gives you much more freedom and is cheaper. Lots of people here like the train because they don't want to negociate city streets and parking garages; some want the fast train experience and to give their children a train ride. BTW, the bus system is excellent and cheaper than the train. If you get a car, get a small one in order to navigate narrow streets but one with enough luggage space so that all suitcases are out of sight. Get a diesel which is more economical. Expect standard transmission.
The big three in Andalucia are Granada, Cordoba, and Seville. Ronda and Malaga are secondary places. Forget Gibraltar - it takes too long to enter and exit - Spain and Gib are at war. You could do a day trip to Tangiers (to make up for not going to Barcelona!!), but your trip is short. Perhaps your time is better spent in Andalucia and Madrid.

What you have there is a trip lasting 3 to 4 weeks - not 2.
You can see quite a bit of the south in the time you have (I'm assuming 12 days, not counting arrival and departure day).
Or you could see Madrid and Barcelona with a couple of day trips.
As for the south, Gibraltar is a waste of time - often a lot of time if Spain is being careful about letting people back in (can take a couple of hours for that alone). And I think a day trip to Tangiers is a waste, We have done 2 trips to Andalusia - one 10 days and one 12 - and still have a ton to see. I would add Jerez and Cadiz before Gibraltar and Tangiers - but don't really thiave time for them either.nk you will h

Thanks you guys, I appreciate the tips. I had always thought Gibraltar would be amazing, especially the runway with the road over it (I work in aviation), but I had not considered a lengthy delay to return.
