On 31 July, I am headed to Brussels for 2 nights with a friend (we are both college students finishing our studies in Grenoble). I have already done research on Brussels, but am looking for any suggestions from people. Favorite places to visit? Less expensive things to do? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

The Grand Place in the daytime and again at night(illuminated)

Grand Place - lots of cafes with belgian beer...what more could you ask for! I thought they did a music and light show in the Place in the summer evenings...not sure if it still holds.
KGL,
Where are you going to be staying? I am trying to do research on CHEAP accomodations for 1 night in Brussels -but I'm not finding anything.
For inexpensive hotel option in August, try Hotel Sabina, on Rue du Nord about a 15 minute walk from the Grand Place.
