2 days in Munich

We will be driving in from Fussen, German after two nights there ending our vacation with two days in Munich arriving in the morning. Based on what I've read, I believe the Old Town South is the area we want to be in. We will drop the car off at ???? on our way into town and will try to make Dachau in the afternoon. The next day we will take in the old town south sites and local stores, taverns. This will be the end stay after several days in Amsterdam, 7 days river cruise arriving in Basel, SW, then drive to Fussen for the castle and surrounding local communities.
Does the Old Town South area seem to be a good choice???
