2 days driving Sarthe, France

Jump to last reply

I am reaching out in need of advice and wisdom.
My husband and I are Americans planning a trip to Ireland (his family history) with a brief jaunt over to small villages in Sarthe, France (near LeMans) where I have much family history.

He has never been out of the USA. I have, but only in countries where English is spoken. (we know VERY LITTLE french)

We plan to fly from Dublin to Paris (CDG). Rent a car at the airport and drive toward the small villages in Sarthe. (where generations of my paternal family lived) I plan to have the route mapped out and have accommodations reserved. We plan to stay 2 nights and then take a return flight back to Dublin. My husband says that is more cost effective than flying from Paris back to the States. (is it?)
I welcome any and all advice. What do we need to expect? What are we overlooking?
Has anyone driven through this area? Do you have suggestions or favorite things?

Thank you very much!
