We are arriving at 2 a.m. at the Athens airport. What is our best means (and cost) of transportation into Athens. Staying at Attalos.

There are express busses which run all night long, cost 1000 drachmas, and end about eight blocks from Hotel Attalos. A taxi should cost about $15 tops at that time of night.

Correction to taxi fare because $15 was without luggage. It'll probably be closer to $20-25.

Be careful with advice about Athens airport - there is a new one now, which is further from town than the old one. The good news is there is now only one terminal. I haven't been to the new one yet but will be in two weeks. Good luck!

Definetly take the Express Bus. It is easy to find at the airport, very clean, lets off right in Syntagma Square (near Attalos), and if you are very tired and don't want to walk the 8 blocks, there are plenty of cabs waiting in Syntagma for the bus to arrive. <BR> <BR>However, having stayed at both Attalos and a hotel nearer Syntagma called Hotel Athos, I would hands down choose Athos. Cleaner, nicer, etc.

Just came back from Athens. The airport will be full of people at 2am. The express bus is safe and easy to take and costs less then $3 (US). Change money before you take the bus or taxi!
