17 days in Italy, need suggestions.

Planning a 17 day trip to Italy. Arriving in Milan and leaving from Rome. On a budget, so if you have any suggestions on any favorite, economical B&B's, hotels etc.
Also would like to know your favorite restaurants, bars, cafes.
