My wife and I are planning a second trip overseas for a 30 th anniversary . Currently have reservations beginning sept 12. 2013 beginning with 5 nights each in Barcelona , Venice and Florence . We have been to Florence for 2 nights 4 years ago and same trip went to Rome ,Taormina. Crete, turkey and Greece. We plan side trips to Girona Spain, the Lido beach in Venice and piza and Siena . I have read some of the threads on here and because of this tried to not over committ ourselves. My wife and I will be 60 and in ok health. We do like days at beach. Last time in Florence my son and I had a delightful time at a country villa in Tuscany while my wife an daughter shopped in a flea market.
So couple of questions. Any other side trips you suggest? Any changes in venue? I figured we would fly into Barcelona, find a tour to Girona, fly to Venice, train to Florence perhaps rent a car there and fly home out of Piza. Any tours or tour companies to use or avoid. Any thoughts of what we might need to have booked before getting there? Any advice from seasoned travelers will be appreciated
Thanks

I see I should have tagged this as Italy
If you want to cut back a bit, eliminate Lido in Venice. It is, at best, a mediocre beach and there are so many more wonderful things to see and do in Venice.
There is no need to rent a car in Florence unless you plan to visit Tuscan hill towns. In fact a car is a bit of a liability in Florence because so much of the center of the city is closed to vehicles. Train travel from Florence to Pisa is quite easy. Bus travel to Siena is equally easy.
With only two months to go before your trip, I would highly recommend getting your accommodations NOW! Lots of the good stuff will be already taken.
Thanks for the responses i will forego the auto in Florence, thanks. I actually have 14 months b4,trip already have reservations but not air or tours.
