15 days in Europe- Spain/Italy
Hi all,
Basically me and 3 other friends (2 guys, 2 girls all over 18 but under 25) are going to Belgium for a while in July for a festival. So we left 15 days to spend in Spain and Italy. Just need some help with setting up an itinerary.
We want to go to at least two museums but want to skip out on a lot of touristy things. We all like to party and enjoy great food. Any help would be appreciated. We are thinking about starting off in Spain and then Italy.

With 15 days I would pick 4 places max so you don't spend all your time and money on the logistics of travel rather than seeing the places you are visiting.
The options are endless but I would pick two places in each country, with easy flights or ferries between... For example I think there is an overnight ferry from Barcelona to Genoa...
I would spend some time with guide books for each country and see what areas interest you

Www.seat61.com will give you excellent info on the train systems.
Many times booking cheap flights on easyjet or Ryanair or vueling will save you time and money for such long distances.
Rail passes may or may not be what you need...point to point tickets booked in advance can be much cheaper.

You can fly from Brussels to Barcelona for $75 (look at www.skyscanner.net to try various flight options). The flight takes 2 hours but train takes ~10 or more. It will be very hard to get the train cheaper, and even with a pass you will have to pay (often hefty) supplements on fast trains. Flying Barcelona-Rome is only $66 and takes less than two hours, while the train takes anywhere from 14 to 24 - - also with fat supplements payable. Passes are not good value within in Italy either.
Trains are more fun though.
