14 days in Greece itinerary ???

Hi! I have booked two weeks in Greece and have decided where I would like to go but I am not sure how to split the time for each place. We fly in and out of Athens this July 2 - 16, 2017. We want to see the Athens area for the monuments but not the beaches. We would like to see Delphi, Meteora, maybe Corinth and Nafplio but not a must, Corfu if time allows but not necessary, Santorini for sure but don't know how long we should stay. We want to also ferry over to Milos because we really like being out in the water and seeing the unusual rocks and caves and exploring the water. We are not so much interested in the beach type places like Naxos or Mykonos that are flat with lots of people. We like the rocky cays with small sandy beaches to explore. We plan to fly to Santorini and ferry to Milos and hopefully if the planes run on the day we leave Milos, fly back to Athens. We can rent a car or train/bus on the mainland. Whichever is most relaxing and convenient. We are very budget minded and will choose Airbnb type hotels but with pools and a/c. If they have a view that's even better. We are hoping to only spend 60/70$ day for our hotels. We have found many that fit this budget but if anyone has a great suggestion regarding a place to stay or area to stay we would love and appreciate your advice.

Is it possible to include Corfu for a day or two or would we be too hurried? We don't want to miss Meteora and don't know how long to budget for there to really enjoy it. We are not sure how long to plan for the islands. We are already seeing a lot of ruins on the mainland so we don't need to plan to see ruins there as well. We just want the slow relaxing time there and to see the unique blue waters of the Greek islands.

We also are extreme sport lovers, especially in the water like river rafting etc. We love boating but can't fit it into our budget to sail for days on end.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an itinerary?

Thanks,

Wazzumama

I see two different trips here, and you don't have time for both.

Corfu would fit well with Meteora, as they are both in northern Greece. A road trip from Athens could include Delphi, and possibly the Nafplio area too.

The other trip would include Athens, Santorini and Milos, which are at the southern end of Greece.

I'm not sure what an Airbnb type hotel on the islands would be, as most would be listed on booking(dot)com and other websites too. Your budget of US? $60-70 is on the low end in July for hotels with a pool. Try thinking in euros, the currency used in Greece. US$60-70 is about €55-65 at the current exchange rate.

Are 2 July and 16 July the days you fly in and out of Greece? If so, you really have only 12 days, not 14.

I second Heimdall: you cannot do both.
it is easy to go
by bus from Athens to Delphi,
by train or bus from Athens to Kalambaka/Meteora,
by bus from Meteora to Ioannina - Igoumenitsa - Corfu,
by bus from Corfu/Igoumenitsa to Antirio - Athens,
by bus from Antirio to Nafkpaktos - Delphi.
Delphi - Meteora by public transport is not impossible, but rather difficult (with bus changes).

May be you hae a look at other Ionion Islands as Lefkas, Kefalonia and Zakynthos and forget Milos.

Thanks to you both for your wisdom! I was thinking that it might be a stretch to try to see it all. I was planning on flying to the islands so that I would have more time. I guess I'll have to give up on Corfu and nafplio and probably Delphi as well. My husband wants to see the Islands Santorini and Milos and I want to see Meteora so we will just stick to those places. I read on another post that one of you suggested in Meteora to hire a taxi as a guide. Do you have a budget range for that? Would it take two full days of sightseeing to do this?

I'll put in my vote for both Meteora and Delphi - we enjoyed them far more than the Acropolis for example - less people and so spiritual. You can drive from Meteora to Delphi easily and both have very reasonable hotel type options (not sure about airbnb - they are pretty small towns. There are a number of small towns and monestaries near Delphi that are worth the stop.

If Meteora is a must see then it makes sense to listen to lauramsgarden and add a day for Delphi. It is a special place. You can certainly easily imagine why all those Pilgrims came here.
Here is what you will see.

Just as an aside Naxos does have great beaches but the whole interior is mountains.
