10 year old in Moscow and London

It will be my first time in Moscow and I promised to bring my 10 year old son who's into ships, planes, insects, marine life, anything nature. He also likes sculptures especially if they are made of the above things. Any recommention as far as reading material, museums I can give him that might be beneficial to our trip? I'm not sure which guidebooks to purchase there are plenty to choose from. We're flying out from London back to the US and so will spend a couple of days there too if you could suggest any places with the above interests. I am into cathedrals, local food, being centrally located. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Have been to St Pet twice but don't know enough about what there is for a child there.

London is a paradise for kids. Besides the usual suspects: Tower of London, Big Ben, Parliament, Buckingham Palace, visit the central city parks (St James and Green Park) and the zoo - head for:

Natural History Museum
British Museum ( great sculptures and antiquities)
Imperial War Museum
Greenwich (sailing ship and naval museums) - go at least one way by boat
Hampton Court Palace (great for the maze as well as al of the staff portraying life in Tudor Times, including arms and armor) - again go one way by boat
Museum of London (a lot of interactive exhibits including the burning of London and memorabilia rom WWII)

Take your son to Trafalgar Square to see the pigeons and climb on the lions (the sculptures, that is!).

Moscow has alot of things of interest to kids.

http://www.kosmo-museum.ru/?locale=en

In the same area is this:

http://vdnh.ru/en/

although there are some questionable exhibitions esp concerning animals, there used to be some old aircraft eg Tupolevs and Ilyushin that you could take a look inside. Not sure if they are still there.

Gorky Park

Moscow has amazing sculptures, in metro stations such as Kievskaya, the space monument, Worker and Kolkhoz Woman Monument at VDNH, etc.

Then there is the Kremlin and various exhibitions inside it, St Basils and the list goes on and on.
