Jump to last reply

After 5 days in Turkey flew into Athens and then took onward connection in Aegean Air to Santorini-We stayed for 2 nights in Strogili House at Oia.Lovely view of the caldera and its a only a few steps from the main road.Checked in and went to the end of the village for the sunset.Very crowded but enjoyed it anyway.Recommended to have dinner at Anemomilos restaurant opposite the hotel. Very good food.
Next day walked around the village and amoudi bay.in the evening walked a few steps to the church to see the sunset.Very good view and no people around.
On the last day spent time in the pool and took the superjet ferry in the evening to Milos for 3 days. The ferry was delayed but the ride was ok.
Milos-booked at Psaravolada resort. We were picked up from the port by the owners. The location is outstanding as one has a clear view of the sea .Checked in late and had dinner. All meals are cooked by the family members.
Next day we were booked on a boat trip to Kleftiko and private beaches.Wonderful day trip and we loved the swim in the caves and beaches.
On day 2 we spent time at Agia Kyriaki beach very close to the hotel.Clear water and spent time playing beach volley ball and swimming.
The following morning we took the Agean Speed runner to Athens.
The following days were going to be hectic as we had booked a 3 days trip to OLympia,Delphi and Meteora with Vassilos Athens Taxi tours.Outstanding service and they really made the trip enjoyable despite the long drives.
Olympia-the drive via corinth canal was ok.We stayed at Bacchus Pension in Olympia. They have a nice Tavern for having dinner.
Next day drove to Delphi.Beautiful drive as u travel along the coast. After visiting Delphi we went to Meteora.Stayed at Doupiani Traditional House. We went to Tavern Paradiso for dinner.Recommended by the hotel and the food is good.Next morning visited the monasteries.Very impressive sight. In the afternoon left for athens.
Later in the evening visited the Acropolis museum and Parthenon.Lot of restoration work at the site.In the evening visited the terrace of plaka hotel to get night shots of the acropolis.
Sunday morning went to see the change of guards.
We were lucky as the strike on 16th did not affect our schedules. The protests in Athens were scattered and did not affect us although a lot of cops were on alert in Ermou Street.
Thoroughly enjoyed Greece and look forward to visiting some of the other islands.
