We are going to Paris for 10 days in April for our honeymoon. Would love some suggestions for itinerary in Paris / Cote d'azur possibly some wine country. And Hotels to stay. I have never been to Europe but my husband has many years ago.

In order to give you any sort of useful advice, you need to help us out here.

What is your budget?
What type of hotels are you interested in?
What are you interested in seeing in Paris/Côte d'Azure/wine country?
How do you plan to divide your 10 days (and is it 10 days on the ground, or does that include travel days)?

You might start by reading the Destinations section of this forum and perusing some of the gazillion threads on Paris to get some ideas.

There is a high speed train from Paris to the South of France.
You might consider flying into Paris and home from somewhere like Nice, or perhaps the opposite.

Ten days is a good amount of time to combine Paris with another destination.

Often mentioned here is Dijon in Burgundy, so you could research that as a wine destination. If wine were to mean champagne, Reims is a common day trip from Paris, via train, to go visit cellars and/or vineyards.

What to see in Paris? Lots of choices. As stated above, gettgin a good guide then just making a list of potential things that interest you, and letting us know what your itnerests are, should lead to a good list. For example, if you LOOOVE Impressionits art, then there are 3 museums taht could fit the bill. If you want to wander, there are some nice areas to do so,etc...

Staying that long in Paris would open up possibility of renting an appartment. For hotels, as a quick start, look at these threads:

Thanks for the responses. I did not even see I had comments. I apologise for my lack of correspondance. Our trip is 10 days including travel days. We would like to spend a few days in Paris (Museums and such) then travel south possible through Dijon, Lyon to Côte d'Azure and travel back to Paris for one more night prior to departure.

And... budget -- I do not want to break the bank on hotels. Some we have seen are very expensive. We would like to stay <$250.00/nt US (preferably less)

If you have 10 days throw out the last day because you'll be at the airport most likely in the morning and day 1 is unlikely to be very productive as you'll be jet lagged.

So really, you have 8 days. In that short amount of time I would not consider going all the way to the Cote d'Azur or Provence. 8 days is little enough for Paris alone. You'll understand when you get there. ;^) Stay in Paris and take a couple of day trips... Versailles, Chartres, Fontainebleau, and Giverny are all within an hour our less by train.

I like the idea of staying in Paris and doing day trips from there. There are dozens of great day trips you can do easily by train/bus from Paris. But if you still want to get away for a few days then spend days 1-4/5 in Paris, days 5/6-8 somewhere else leaving on the morning of your 9th day to head back to Paris for your last night before you leave on day 10.

Or you could fly into Paris and out of another city to avoid having to return to Paris. Tnen do days 1-5 in Paris and go somewhere else for the rest of your time.

If you really want to experience another part of France, then spend 3 nights or so in the Loire Valley, visiting castles and seeing some of the countryside. (Though I will also add, I don't find the Loire Valley as scenic as many other parts of France, though it's the best to combine with Paris in a short time framce).

And I would also suggest to visit any other location first, then spend the end portion of your trip in Paris, so you don't have two separate hotel stays in Paris. We have stayed a number of times at Hotel Le Regent, which is a great location in the 6th Arrondisement that's slightly under your price range. Or Hotel Millesime, also in the 6th in a great location but a slightly higher price.

I have taken the TGV train from CDG to Lyon, and back on flight day. I actually landed, walked to TGV station and left directly for the South, return for flight, no time in Paris.

Lyon is the 'gastronomic capital' of France. While a big city, the toruist area is quite concentrated. There is a UNESCO-listed pedestrian Old Town, some nice squares and old buildings, rivers running through it, a cathedral overlooking city and, nearby, a roman amphitheatre with similar views and a very nice gallo-roman museum on site.

While I think Paris can fill your time (with maybe a day trip thrown in), Lyon could be a 2 day+ trip.
