1 month trip to Spain and Italy
Hey, so I'm planning on going to Spain and Italy (And maybe France.) for around a month and I'm starting to plan the trip out. I'll most likely have way more questions and more in depth questions as I get farther along in planning the trip, but right now I want to know if $3,000 dollars will be enough for the trip? For airline tickets, food, trains/buses, everything. I plan to go to around 4-6 cities in both countries.
I also can't decide whether I want to go to France, too, or just stick with Spain and Italy. Will it be a lot cheaper just to go the two and also be better since it's only for a month?
Also any advise on trains vs. buses, or anything else you can think of. I'm 19 and this is going to be my first trip to Europe. I've done quite a bit of traveling with my parents in a few countries in Central America but this will be my first adventure by myself and I'm getting a little nervous thinking about planning it all.
Thank you!

Not enough money, particularly not if coming from overseas. Check www.kayak.com to get an idea of how much the plane tickets will cost. I would count on $50 for a room per night ($1500 for a month), and one still has to include food, European travel, tickets for museums, etc.

Wow, $50 a night just for a room? I was expecting less than that. Just to clarify, I'm planning to stay in hostels.
Nothing too fancy on this trip! Tickets for museums is one thing I need to think about, though.
Thanks!

Have you searched on hostelworld.com, booking.com or similar hostel sites? I'm planning an Italy next spring, and I don't know how big the difference is between the low and high seasons, but for now when I do searches for January (it won't let me go any further than that), I see you can get a bed (dorm style) for around $20 in Rome and some of the Southern cities. In Florence the price is somewhat more expensive but $25 is doable, and Venice would probably be $30 for the same dorm bed. When I was planning out my budget, I estimated $40/night. Can someone who has experience with Italian hostels in the high season confirm too? Thank you!

*Italy trip*, learning Fodor's has no edit button the hard way.
I'd say for a month in Italy, my estimated expense was almost 4k flying from New York. I'm a girl but do minimal shopping; I tried to overestimate eating/train fares expenses to come up with the 4k, including flights. We'll see how much I actually end up spending in Italy & will report back later.

Hi!
The places I showed were for individual romos with private bathroom. Read carefully.
If you are looking just for dorms ,they are about 10 euros
