1 day in the Cotswolds with 3 kids - what to do? (not zoo)
I'll be staying in Woodstock for 3 days while my husband participates in the Blenheim Palace Triathlon this summer. Since Friday will be getting settled and recovering from the long flight, and Saturday is the race and touring the palace, we only have Sunday to do touristy things in the Cotswolds area. We'll have a car, and between us and our friends we'll have two (very active) 3 year olds and a six year old.
Not interested in going to the Cotswolds Wildlife Park as we already have plans to go to the London zoo later in the week, and I want to see something unique to the area. The villages like Bourton on the Water look interesting to me and i'm into photography so that would be great, but afraid the kids will be bored to death! Has anyone taken kids to these little villages and had a good time?
We went to Oxford right before our son was born so I was hoping to see something new, but if there's something particularly kid-friendly in Oxford we'd be open to that.
Any other ideas that would be about an hour drive or less from Woodstock would be great. Thanks!

Or take a boat ride on the Thames from Oxford and other locals:

Blenheim Palace Park had a tiny train running around its grounds when I was there with plenty of kids things.

Actually Bourton-on-the-Water is great for kids. Probably one of the best villages for family activities. There is a miniature Village, Birdland, A model railway, an automobile museum, and a river.
(BTW -- I personally wouldn't spend London time at the zoo. It os certainly a good zoo but there are soooooooo many other great things for kids -- one can see a zoo anywhere)

I think we are going to do Bourton-on-the-Water and depending on how the day goes, one other village. If it's raining and would be miserable walking around villages all day, the castle sounds like a good option.
Will have to check out that train!
Thanks, everyone!
