When I go back to Ireland, I'm going to explore the wildness of Connemara. But, I've been to the areas around Killarney and Dingle. One isn't more beautiful than the other, but it's what calls to you.

I'm probably in the minority on at least a few of these, but my choices in order of preference are:

1 - Connemara
2 - Wicklow
3 - Kerry/Killarney

Most beautiful is in the eye of the beholder, obviously, but Connemara was great, especially along the coast through Clifden and Westport. I place Wicklow and Kerry fairly close to each other. The mist through the Wicklow mountains made for some really eerie and beautiful views.

My raking above includes more than just beauty. It takes into account how places felt, too. While staying in Clifden, things just felt very relaxed and comfortable. Hanging out on the Sky Road watching a sunset is something that has stayed with me. Wicklow had a similar vibe while travelling though. Killarney/Kerry is probably the busiest of the bunch as far as tourtists go. So while I was a tourist, I didn't necessarily want to be surrounded by a bunch more of "me"

If you are still planning on basing in Dublin and taking day trips -- the only one you can get to is the Wicklows.

I can't rank these, as they all have something to call me back. Wicklow was home to me for several years in the sixties, so it tops my list. However, it is all so personal and weather, a chance meeting, a song, or much more that there is no objective way to rate places. If forced to name one after Wicklow, it would be Connemara (at least today).
