I am NOT going to get kicked off fodors by seriously answering this.

I "feel" this is a test, trick or a trap!

If it is not, sorry.

If this is not a hoax to have Oaktown unknowingly throw the first carat...I mean carrot...into the big ole soup pot that she might be sitting in then listen up.

Sorry to be terse but I am looking over my shoulder...you know their is a gang of girl "travel" posters out there and when they see Oak, or Oaktown or Oaktown Traveler or OT...then for them..it's ON.

They have even gotten rid of all things Oak in or around their "clubhouses" and homes!

I don't know...sigh, let me think about this some...

Ok, here it is: THIS season is considered LATE Spring for the fashion industry..that April 15th thing...

So, if you want Spring Season then you are shopping RIGHT at the start of Spring sales.

Cool black slacks are only available as a basic or staple available from any of your favorite "designers"...labels are for foods...remember that ok?

Keep that between me and you!

If you tell other troublesome posters then they will scream bloody murder, make all kindsof jokes, call names, get all "camp", smug and then they start drinking!

Anyway...

Summer Season is in the stores/boutiques
etc. But, not on sale. Go for a linen or a silk blend. Black pants by say Ralph Lauren or by the now infamous DKNY (my missing pants) are slightly under a grand ($100) without sales tax.

A capri pant is not on this landscape.
Despite what you will hear neither is a cargo pant. These are fads...cool for teens as they are cheap and cheaply made too.

For other RELIABLE and expert fashion advice I totally recommend you get this month's In STYLE Magazine...a great travel fashion guide...hands down and no bickering, slamming, put-downs and all that nonesense are involved.

Ok, another travel fashion secret...now if you tell this I will not tell you anymore secrets...

Go to your BEST consignment shops for what you want. Ladies like me, deliver tons of our clothing...some things never worn to these treasure chests!
Kinda get a feel for your city or wherever as for where the "ladies" might be consigning their once worn clothing.

eoroenvy...if this is a set-up...ie. you do not post back or I click your moniker and this is your first post I'll forgive you...fodors probably won't but it is their site.

Suspicious,
Oaktown Traveler

Now, back to my travel packing...

Your welcome...no difference between us as far as I can see.

Thanks for the posting compliments...I REALLY appreciate it...Really.

My sincere and deepest apologies if you felt bad. You did nothing. I apologize.

Hey, enjoy your shopping...ask for the extra discount even if it is not posted.

I really did give you some great travel fashion advice ad insights...I just am like that despite the madness on these boards at times.

Ok...another tip: go to the back of the store and on those back racks are some finds.

Another travel fashion tip: e-bay! Be selective, bid creatively...have fun.

My Very Best!
Oaktown Traveler

p.s. Eurorenvy, post back if I can help you more and I most certainly will.

If you have to, or are even willing to, rely on nameless/faceless others for clothing advice then you are NOT ready for serious foreign travel. Even the immigrants in the 18th Century knew "what to wear."

Doubletail....when you need fashion advice in a hurry ask a fashionista when you need cutting quips, flamers and trolls be sure to post here... as there is tons of "sporting" for people posting to the meaningless "test" messages .Those ones who want to appear clever, have nothing better to do and probably arent even planning a trip. I just need some black pants maybe you'd do better monitering by telling me to go to a fashion board with my question.BTW my father was an immigrant from europe(so maybe that's my problem .. been too many times) was yours?? what I want to buy is new black chic pants for here, there or anywhere and I dont give a damn about nameless faceless typers who only post for baiting fun!Oh lord thi this is just getting it up for you. move on,,,

Good Morning euroenvy!

I like your style. You have a way with detractors...seems to work wonders for you.

I had another thought about your question. If the linen or silk blend fabrics do not work for you then try a Pima Cotton. Regular cotton will require dry cleaning to keep the cut, color and style...even if very well made.

Pima Cotton can be cared for at home so it is a decision that comes to either time or money. Just a thought.

My Best,

Some things never change....Hey Oaktown, it's me Nina, long time no banter..just to let you know, dh and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary next month in Italy.

And you said it wouldn't last ; ). Still see that you're fixated on style over substance though, some things never change!

Carry on, this fashion diatribe is just sooooo fascinating....

need all season (not really wool) as I live in Fl and not 100 cotton as accidents happen in the launtry dept.(ie family)and terrible for traveling accidents.Last pants I bought were couple of years ago mirofiber from express. (Which closed here BYW). Steinmart had old lady pants.will try Bloomies .Lord and Taylor is going bust here.are the microfibers out? what about the bottoms staright flared what?

Euroenvy:

The microfibers are simply a matter of taste. Microfibers in black, especially pants are actually off-black making it difficult to pare blouses or shirts with them.

Microfibers seem to "hold" sweat, smoke and other aromas which will have you over a sink when you should be sipping, seeing or sleeping.

The bottom of a black pant as we discussed should not have a flare or a "bell-bottom". While cute these are not classic nor flexible to be dressed up or down...hence, not the best investment for your euro.

IF Lord and Taylor is going bust...go there first! You can really try for additional discounts on some pretty good designers and the like.

Euro, I really think you'd be best served by looking at some fashion magazines and/or doing some browsing on-line.

Different styles obviously flattter different figures. A slight flare is still in fashion, as is a very slim straight leg "cigarette" pant.

Moderately priced national chains that have stylish clothes and might carry pants that would work for you would be Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Gap, Talbots, etc. All of these have websites, so you can check out styles and prices before you drive two hours to the mall.

Nina...

A lovely "hello" to you too!

Congratulations on your Anniversary...
It is cheaper to keep her!

Funny thing...your husband said the EXACT same things about you!

"...the complete lack of any style by you over substance..."

"...regretfully, some things, like my wife, never changes..."

"...you were simply not fascinating..."

His mistress quoted him so take this up with her.

Ciao!

You Know what Nina...

Your posts to me are CLEARLY:

Harassing, flamming, insulting, antagonizing, goading, irritating and more...

YOU and your kind of "travel" posters make people leave these forums...yet NOTHING happens to you and your kind.

WHY I ASK WHY??????????

Did I get a one-of-a-kind FODORS AGREEMENT?

I DO NOT ATTACK, GO AFTER, STALK, HARASS anybody why are so many of you allowed to openly do so?

ENOUGH!

well i was hesitant to take your advice and go the the lord and T. Thought everything would be picked over and evenso there were a lot of wierd leftovers but we rummaged thru the 50% off sales racks for a good while until i found one pair of cotton stretch karen kanes and my size too. so great, what a deal! I hope they dont fade too fast...they do have somewhat of a flare at the bottom..oh well...one more thing it will be very hard but dont engage(they love that) and keep it short just IMO
