? for Nice, Cote dAzur expert re traffic

Hi,
We're attending friends' wedding the weekend of September 1 & 2. A group of us will be based in Nice, and a few in Claviers, approx 80 km east of Nice. We'll be driving back and forth between the two towns for various festivities. I know summer traffic in the area can be fairly heavy. Is the weekend of September 1 & 2 still considered summer holidays? If so, can you advise how long we should allow to drive from Nice to Claviers on Saturday afternoon (need to be there by 3) and Claviers to Nice on Sunday afternoon (need to be in Nice by 4). Really appreciate any insight anyone can provide. I'd hate to miss one of the ceremonies because we're stuck in traffic. Thanks!

Oops, I am directionally challenged. Post below should state that Claviers is 80 km WEST of Nice.

I can't tell you how traffic will be that weekend. For driving time estimates, go to www.viamichelin.com or www.mappy.com.

Last year we were in Annecy on Sunday 9/3/06 and it was an absolute zoo. The next day -zilch - It was like night and day, Thank Heavens! Turns out it was the last week end before La Rentrée.

My guess would be that 9/1-2/07 falls into the "Last Weekend Fling" dates for this year. Perhaps someone living in France with children will know better and respond.
