Would Oct./Nov. be too late for Mediterranean?

Is late October/November too late to take the Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas? I know the weather will be Low45-High70. Will it be too chilly to enjoy these ports?
Barcelona, Spain 7:00pm
Marseille, France 7:00am 7:00pm
Nice (Villefranche), France 7:00am 10:00pm
Florence / Pisa (Livorno), Italy 7:00am 7:00pm
Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy 7:00am 7:00pm
Naples, Italy 7:00am 7:00pm
At Sea
Barcelona, Spain 7:00am
Also what would be my best bet for finding cheap airfare?

It can be chilly, but weather gives no guarantees. You can be lucky.
If you can travel 1 month earlier, I think it is much better.

W've done two Med cruises in October/November and enjoyed both of them. The weather did not interfere with our touring.

The clothes we needed ranged from shorts/short sleeve shirts/sandals to long pants/long sleeve shirt + fleece + rain jactet/shoes & socks.

Bring umberllas!

I'm considering this same cruise! I was wondering about whether or not to take the cruise excursions into Rome, etc. or just go it alone.

Ah...didn't even consider the rain. I noticed the average seems to be around 4 inches. We are from FL, so afternoon showers are not so bad. But is it an all day/every day sort of drizzle that time of year?

There is also a similar priced cruise that leaves from Rome to the Greek Isles...would this be any better for this time frame?

We did a similiar cruise last October (mid) and found the weather absolutely delightful in the ports..at sea it was rainy... Hate to use that phrase "layered"...but a jacket or a long sleeved blouse or shirt might work.. the only place I found cool was up in Orvieto, in Tuscany.. It did rain at night in Barcelona and the day we boarded the ship.. As for taking the ships cruises...a group from another board hired Claudio which was the best thing we did.. We got to Rome on a Sunday and I understand that there were 50,000 people there..instead we headed to Tuscany which was the highlight of the trip for us.. In Barcelona we hired a guide/taxi driver who took us all over Barcelona to places the average tourist would miss in several days.. I don't think there is anything now for a cheap airfare unless you want to go country to country.. We paid Celebrity for a deviation and flew directly to the UK and then to Barcelona...we could have gone I think directly from NYC. Almost forgot Nice.. we did make a mistake.lol.. we took the little tourist train there from Villefranche and should have stayed longer in Nice along the market.. Next trip we will go further on and take the train.. One warning,......If you do Rome on your own and take the train....on our cruise the Captain announced the departure was being held for 25 plus passengers stuck on a broken down train from Rome back to the ship.. IF you want the guides e-mails please write..even thanks to people on the internet found a great hotel on The Ramblas. [email protected]

Any rainy day in the Mediterrean is better than one in the USA. Oct. 29 through Nov. 16, I will be taking a Transatlantic cruise from Venice; stops in Croatia, Spain, Canary Islands, 6 days at sea, Nassau, Key West Fl. and then Galveston. I have been to Venice, Florence and Sorrento in April/May and it poured down so you can never tell about the weather, but being from Texas I am used to extreme changes in the weather.

I'm taking the Galaxy (Celebrity) in November and am concerned about the weather - not so much on-land, since I've been advised on the weather (a bit cold and usually raining), but inside the ship. Must one carry their raincoats or jackets around the ship, for when you're inside but then decide to step out for fresh air or to enjoy the view? This is my first cruise in the Mediterranean. I've only cruised in the Caribbean and this definitely is not one of the problems.

I'd appreciate your help. Thanks.

We are going on the Galaxy Oct 16. Love Celebrity-- Yes you may want a jacket for outdoors on the ship--but if it is raining--I do not think you'll be able to see anything or even want to be outdoors--same jacket should handle your being on the ship as well as when sight seeing at the port of calls

Thanks BRIALL. Like I mentioned in my post - I've only been on Caribbean cruises, so other than a lite blazer for the evenings and shorts for the day, nothing regarding the weather phased me. In addition to taking a long raincoat, I'll definitely include a jacket.

Thanks again and the best to you on your Celebrity cruise.

Thanks Ida101. I'll be checking out that site. My concern is that I've never even been to Europe, let alone having to pack for a 15 day trip that includes land and sea travel in November. And clothing for colder weather takes up much room. I want to make sure not to take what I won't be needing. I appreciate your reply and everyone else's.

I will be taking the Galaxy in November - hope the great deal I got wasn't in anticipation of bad weather! Noticed that another person - Anna? - posted that she will be on the Galaxy in November too.

The best advise for clothing is still, try to dress in layers...

You reference the Greek Isles. We took the Splendour of the Seas in 2002 out of Venice in mid October. It was unusually warm per the locals (in the mid 80's). So I agree with packing for almost anything. Particularly with the strange weather 2005/2006 has brought. I too am considering the Voyager out of Barcelona in the end of September. One concern, is that we will waste a great deal of time traveling to Rome and Florence once we dock. Is it worth the trip for a few hours of sightseeing, or should we choose another itinerary and visit these cities on a land tour at another time?

Lisanne - just read your post. I'll be taking the Galaxy on Nov. 10. Is this the same cruise you are taking? I'm still gathering info. on sites and restaurants, since this is my first time to Europe. Can't wait for November. My husband and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.

Anna_Issa, I am going to be on the Galaxy on November 10th as well. I have a friend/co-worker who loves to travel too, so we usually plan one great trip every year. We too are just beginning to plan and gather info on sites, restaurants, etc. This is my first cruise. I traveled through Europe about 20 years ago--sure its changed a bit - ha. You will absolutely love Italy! We will be staying a few days extra in Rome upon return and are getting very excited as I'm sure you and your husband are. What a wonderful anniversary present! If I come up with any wonderful ideas regarding sites and/or restaurants, I'll let you know!

Lisanne - Thanks for your reply and offering regarding sites/restaurants. Although I've been on many cruises, they've all been in the Caribbean. So doing the Mediterranean is first for me. Contrary to you, my husband and I will be in Rome for 3 days before the cruise. So at the moment, I'm quite overwhelmed with where and what to do. Thank God there's still time to plan. Hoping to hear from you again.
