For our 20th Anniversary, my husband and I are taking the Windstar (our third cruise with them- again on Windsurf) from Rome to Nice. I have seen older posts saying that it is a wonderful trip - but can anyone please give us tips on excursions? Many thanks!

Nancy= We did this exact cruise 2 years ago-( sorry it was not any more recent)....
Forget the tours in Elba and Portoferrao ( not worth the money and not much time to do a lot except drive thru the town- shop about an hour and drive back to ship)
You do NOT need a tour in Portofino ( the tenders leave you right in town).
You do NOT need a tour in St Tropez- again you are left right in town by tenders...
We did take the TOUR to FLORENCE as we wanted to be on the ship's bus since it is a long ride from port- they disembark in La Spezia for this tour--takes about 2 1/2 hours to get into Florence ( we have been a couple of times but wanted to be on ship's bus in case it was running late vs a cab on our own)...
Monte Carlo is easily doeable again on your own-- unless you want to go to Eze or St Paul de Vence--then you will need a train to do it on your own...
What you need to do is decide WHAT you want to see in each port and then make the decision on whether to tour or do it solo....
The itinerary was GREAT!!! I am sooooooo envious! Have a blast!
We are doing this cruise next May and I would be very interested in your report.
Thanks.
Michael
So have you gone on your cruise nicenancy (or anyone else)? We are taking the Windstar Nice to Rome cruise in May and would love an update on excursions! I've checked cruisecritic and cruisereview.com and can't find details about this particular trip. Thanks!
