Windstar Transatlantic Next Spring
Hello - I am scheduled to sail on the Wind Spirt (Windstar line) from St. Thomas to Lisbon next March. I really don't have any specific questions, but if you have any tips for a transatltantic cruise (this is my first one) and on a Windstar t/a in particular, please clue me in. Also, if you are going on this cruise...feel free to let me know.<BR><BR>Howard<BR>

Howard,<BR><BR>We sailed on Windstar (Wind Song) last year from Rome to Lisbon for 14 days. The ships are great, and you really get to know each other. Just remember, that there will be little to do during the day except some organized activities by the pool, or sitting by the pool. The library is small but you can take the books to another par of the ship. The CD collections are very good and there is a CD player in your stateroom. The food is fabulous! If you are staying O/N in Lisbon, stay at the Meridien. Very nice. Have a good trip.

Howard- We did the Windsurf from Rome to Nice this past May-fabulous--<BR>But the Windspirit if 1/3 the size- only 128 passengers I thinkg--Windsurf is 330 pass.....<BR>Seems a little small to me to do a transatlantic in such a small ship--<BR>I know it's doable,but for transatlantic ,I would want a larger ship---<BR>Had some friends that took the QE2 across in June and they had good weather, but it will be VERY COLD going across in March and with very little to do on the ship during the day, you may go nuts.....<BR>It is FABULOUS in the MED though!!!!<BR>and the Food is AWESOME!!!!

I have friends who have gone Transatlantic on the Windstar and loved it. You have be the kind of person that doesn't need constant entertainment ,though -- one who is content to sit in a quiet corner and read during the long days at sea. Don't be too concerned about the small size of the ship. the large ones roll a lot more in heavy seas.

Thanx for your responses. We are going into this realizing that there will be not much in the way of organized activities. Besides being a long cruise with no port calls, Windstar normally has very little in the way or activities on board. They do say the on t/a trips, there are some activities that they don't have on other cruises that have port calls, though they do not say how frequent these are - one a day, one a week, three a day, etc.<BR><BR>We plan to take a bunch of reading material, cd's, board games and use the ship's library for checking out videos and other reading material. <BR><BR>We have heard and read that due to the small size of Windstar ships, there is more interaction between passengers than on other lines. I would think this is even more true on a t/a crossing - where everyone is in the same boat - pun intended - and we hope to strike up a good rapport with at least some other passengers - although of course the extent of this cannot be known until one is on the trip.

Howard- Have a great time on the Windstar-- having done the Windsurf, I can tell you that you will interact with fellow passengers and you will have a blast!! The casino areas are very low key and have low stakes, so you can go for broke! Just bring soe heavy sweaters and scarves so you can sit outside and not freeze........Enjoy it !

I will be cruising on Seabourn's Pride<BR>(part of the Cunard Line)ship March 19th<BR>from Ft. Lauderdale to the small Island of Funchal, Portugal, where we will disembark. Anyone know of the weather in March? I cruise Seabourn twice a year....it's fabulous!! Only 200 pass.'s<BR>I usually cruise in the Caribbean and know what to take to wear, but I think I will need warmer clothing cruising on the Atlantic Ocean. Can anyone help me?
