which side of ship is better for views south to north Alaska?

Hello!

Does it matter a lot what side of the ship we are on? We will have a balcony room

We are going from Whittier to Van Couver, and we are on the Sapphire Princess..but it is a room on the opposite side of the shore (so going south, our view will seem to only be the ocean..not that that is so bad! But we were hoping to also see the shore-line) We are all the way at the end, at the front of the ship, no rooms are on the left side of us (the front of the ship)..we do have a room to our right (and all the way back). We are on the Aloha Deck.

If anyone has experience with this, please let me know!
Thanks for any help or advise you can provide!

If you are going from Whittier, you are sailing north to south.

After your Glacier Bay sailing, you do have views on both sides of the ship.

BUT if the glaciers are a priority from your balcony, you are on the wrong side. You have no views from a starboard side in College Fjords and Glacier Bay - on the way in with all the commentary and extended stops. So I do suggest, you be out on deck both days and return to your balcony when they are on the way out.

Yes, you are going to get- "the ship turns" posts. BUT this glacier viewing time is only a very small portion of the potential viewing.

Port! For all the reasons listed above.

I've been to Alaska twice and, in my opinion, the best view was outside and seeing the whole 360 degree scenes ... nothing like it ... even a camera can't capture that kind of view.

I completely agree with Cop513. I am so unhappy with side viewing, thinking and knowing I'm missing the other half.
